Dear friends:

Our bishop recently announced that he is taking a general survey of all Catholics in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana concerning the state of our local Church.  To quote from the website: “Bishop Doherty is eager to understand your thoughts and experiences with the Catholic Church, Schools and Healthcare Facilities in the Diocese.”

We highly encourage all our “parishioners” of the St. John Bosco Latin Mass Community to fill out the form as listed on the website. PLEASE MENTION in the additional information section at the end of the survey your appreciation of the availability of a regular Latin Mass in our diocese. Something along the lines of “we are thankful that the bishop has provided for a regular Tridentine Latin Mass in the Diocese of Lafayette, and we hope that the bishop may find it possible to establish a parish where the Latin Mass may be offered on a regular weekly basis, as well as on feast days.”

Be charitable, but be insistent. And please tell your friends to fill out the survey and mention likewise how much they appreciate having the opportunity to regularly attend a Latin mass. The more replies for the Latin mass, the better. The bishop wants to understand our thoughts.  Let’s make them known.

The link to the survey is here.

New PCED Members

As per RORATE CAELIMessa in Latino has announced that the newest members of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei will be Fr. Vincenzo Nuara OP and Fr. Almiro de Andrade FSSP.

Fr. Almiro de Andrade is the first member of any of the “Ecclesia Dei Communities” to be officially appointed to the Commission. He also serves as MC at SS. Trinita dei Pellegrini, and is already considered as the de facto “secretary to the Secretary” of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, Msgr. Guido Pozzo.

Fr. Vincenzo Nuara, on the other hand, is the founder of the “Amicizia Sacerdotale Summorum Pontificum” and of “Giovane e Tradizione“. Fr. Nuara, who had been removed from his position as vicar for religious in the Diocese of Acireale for his role in assisting the organizers of the celebration of the Traditional Mass in that diocese (in Sicily, which currently has only two locations with a regular TLM) — a Mass that was saved only upon the intervention of the PCED — has been very much at the forefront of promoting Summorum Pontificum, being one of the leaders in organizing study days and conferences on the Traditional Roman Rite, in Rome most notably the October 2009 conference that concluded with Archbishop Burke’s Pontifical Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica.

Liturgical monstrosity in the most beautiful (traditional) Church in the world

Another example of what they did to make sacred architecture better!

Another example of what was done to make sacred architecture better!

The Minoriten Church in Linz, which is staffed by the FSSP, is now the less than proud owner of a people’s altar. The Church herself is owned by the Regional Government, whose head an allegedly Christian Democratic politician and former religious studies teacher actively campaigned against the appointment of Father Wagner as Auxilliary Bishop, which is why the FSSP were able to come there in the first instance.  He once told Cathcon “This is my church”.  Read the entire article

4th Degree K of C Honor Guard assist Solemn High Mass at FSSP Personal Parish in Georgia

By J.D. Rasnick, Chairman Una Voce Georgia

Mableton, Georgia – This weekend the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus for the entire state of Georgia met at the FSSP parish of St Francis de Sales in the Atlanta Diocese. In a 2 hour ceremony they conferred the Fourth degree on 113 men. Both FSSP priests at the parish are Fourth degree Knights. Following the ceremony there was a solemn high mass with honour guard. This was a fancy black tie affair. After mass 300 fourth degree Kights and wives attended a banquet at the church. All comments were positive. The church, caliber of the FSSP priests, music etc had a profound impact on this group of Novus Ordo Catholics. They simply loved it. There were some high level Knights here from several states and they were impressed. The highest ranking man there Vice Supreme Knight Singer gave a talk at the banquet and talked about how much he loved attending the latin mass and about the beautiful church. They are taking this good impression with them to their parishes and the officers will take this good impression to other high ranking Knights. This was the first time this has been done. This is a milestone in the acceptance of the latin mass by the main stream catholic church.

Many thanks to Mr. J.D. Rasnick who has been very kind in giving Una Voce Carmel permission to reprint this article.  Additionally, Parochial Vicar, Father Roberto Cano, FSSP at St Francis de Sales in Mableton, GA was part of the first Una Voce Carmel meeting, November 18, 2007.  Father Cano is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Augusto Cano who attend St. John Bosco Latin Mass Community in Carmel, Indiana.
